BEVERLEY RUFC won the Plate competition at Pock Rugby 7s for the second year running, the first time in the tournament's 50 year history that the Plate has been retained.
They won the final 19-5 against Lancashire invitation side Quant Je Puis, who had earlier accounted for a young Driffield side.
Beverley went out of the main competition at the first hurdle, beaten by the strong West Yorkshire side Sandal 10-14 amid the rain and hail of Good Friday and in front of 2,000 rugby enthusiasts.
Six-and-a-half hours of quality rugby saw Hull lift the 7s trophy for the second time in three years when they beat Northallerton in the final.
